Job Description
The Delivery Driver creates value for our customers by delivering orders accurately, safely, and promptly. The driver serves as an ambassador for the company at every stop, projecting professionalism, friendliness, and genuine concern for the customer’s needs and property.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver packages, cartons, and pallets throughout the company’s service territory, following the route as directed by the supervisor.
2. Load and unload the truck, verifying order accuracy, protecting material from damage, and placing material where specified by the customer.
3. Serve as a positive, professional representative of the company at every delivery. Interact with customers in a friendly and respectful manner, address concerns where possible, and immediately relay any issues or complaints to the supervisor so they can be resolved.
4. Follow all customer and vendor site requirements when on their premises, including check-in procedures, jobsite safety rules, and required personal protective equipment (PPE). Always protect customer property and the company’s reputation.
5. Safely operate delivery vehicles, including trucks requiring a Class B commercial license, in full compliance with all traffic laws, posted speed limits, seatbelt requirements, and California’s hands-free / distracted-driving law (no handheld device use while driving).
6. Inspect the vehicle daily using the required checklist; correct minor issues and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.
7. Follow safe lifting practices and use material-handling equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, lift gates) properly; secure all loads before transport.
8. Comply with all company safety policies, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and heat-illness prevention procedures. Report all accidents, injuries, and near-misses immediately.
9. Maintain accurate paperwork, ensuring deliveries and returns are properly documented.
10. Provide warehouse assistance as needed.
11. Take all meal and rest breaks in accordance with California law; plan time on route to allow for required breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, Credentials
• Valid California Class B commercial driver’s license (required for operation of vehicles in this role).
• Current DOT medical certificate where the position is subject to federal or state motor carrier regulations.
• A driving record acceptable to the company and its insurer, verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check with the applicant’s written authorization.
• Post-high-school education preferred.
Physical Demands
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation. A team lift or material-handling equipment is required for items exceeding individual safe-lifting limits.
• Frequent bending, reaching, climbing into and out of the vehicle, and prolonged sitting while driving.
• Work is performed in a combination of vehicle, outdoor delivery, and warehouse environments, with exposure to varying weather and temperature conditions.
