Job Description
Description:
This is a new position and will play a key role supporting the Play Manager in ensuring that Purple Dragon’s vision of “becoming the World’s Best Club for Families” is achieved by helping to lead the play team, ensuring they are fully trained in their roles, motivated and delivering play adventures to the company standard, as well as assisting with the planning and resourcing at the club.
Play is the heart of our business, and we take it seriously. It’s how children learn and whilst we’re a hospitality business, there’s an educational by-product to what we do.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with the Play Manager to review the programming and planning, developed by the flagship club in London, to ensure they are culturally and locally appropriate, and identify any potential issues in advance.
- Join the weekly planning call with all senior Play leads and Managers to discuss feedback about the programming and planning, any arising issues, support requirements, and training and development needs.
- Help lead and motivate the Play Team and model best practice to ensure the play team follows company expectations in line with HR policies and procedures.
- Assist with regular development meetings with the team throughout the year.
- Assist with recruitment for the Play Team ensuring the company recruitment process is followed.
- Work with the Play Manager to help with the daily operation of the Play studio and ensure that both structured and free play activities are delivered according to the club guidelines and themed programming.
- Ensure that the Play Team has all the material required to deliver signature classes and other club adventures.
- Assist with inventory audits, support the team with coordination of materials, and when required, place orders for consumables and play material with the Play Manager’s approval.
- Help oversee the play experiences throughout the facility, assist and intervene where appropriate.
- Assist in implementing our fair play code, leading by example and communicating consistently.
Additional Duties:
- Ensure safeguarding for the club, assisting with training team members both within Play and across the other departments.
- In the Play Manager’s absence, be the contact point for parents and guardians of the children within the club, as well as making sure that all children within the space are members or registered guests of members.
- Ensure the environment is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, in line with the club’s procedures and policies. Be alert to safety hazards at work, completing appropriate checks and recording and reporting of hazards and incidents.
- Perform such other duties as the Management of the Club might reasonably expect appropriate to the job grade including opening or closing the Club.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of an associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred, especially one in a relevant field (Education, Early childhood development, business management).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in supervising children’s activities in professional settings such as childcare, play or educational environments.
- Experience in Montessori setting strongly preferred.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
