Job Description
Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for framing, drywall, and insulation projects by reviewing construction documents, performing detailed take-offs, and calculating all associated material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs. This role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and analytical skills to meet bid deadlines, document scope inclusions and exclusions, and maintain current pricing information. The Estimator collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and customers, responds to bid opportunities, revises estimates as needed, and supports successful project acquisition through clear communication and thorough analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction documents and understand the scope of work
- Execute take-offs of construction documents
- Inputs take-offs into a bid form or spreadsheet
- Stays informed of current material pricing. Obtains pricing for any specialty materials
- Calculates and documents all material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs included in each estimate
- Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, UL listings, government requirements, etc.
- Meets prescribed bid due dates
- Respond to bid invitations
- Document and revise bids as required by RFI’s CBs etc.
- Clearly document inclusions/exclusions & options on estimates
- Attends scope review meetings as required
- Communicate with other divisions/locations/estimators as required
- Communicate with customers
- Bid follow-up as required/ directed
- Attend departmental meetings as required
