Job Description
American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 350+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 3rd Shift Yard Jockey position at our Marshall, Texas facility.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: The Yard Jockey will facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing materials for storage and shipment. Organize trailers in yard to ensure shipments can be made promptly.
Primary Duties to include, but not limited to the following:
- Responsible for timely movements and gaining a thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory/positioning.
- Operates a variety of mobile equipment (yard truck, skid steers, fork lifts, etc.) in the loading, hauling, and unloading of raw and finished materials.
- Confers with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties.
- Assists with cleaning up work area, primarily the docks on the facility grounds.
- Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- May be required to clean out and load AWF and customer trailers.
- May be asked to complete paperwork for shipping
- Become trained on and operate production equipment in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for AWF customers.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.
SAFETY:
- Operates equipment as per the SOP, following directions as provided.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.
- Utilizes all of the required PPE as required by the task being performed. THIS IS A HIGH DUST environment and the equipment must be properly maintained while in operation.
- Helps keep others safe in the work place by looking out for them and participating in safety related improvements.
- Follow the safety protocols for the use of mobile equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb ladders to load trailers and roll tarp on the trailers and climb into the back of trailers safely and unassisted.
- Must be able to lift a range of 20-40 lbs.
- Must be able to safely and unassisted walk over uneven and varied surfaces.
- In this position, the employee can expect to be exposed to extremes in temperatures as well as work environment
- Position requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, and squat for extended periods.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class A (CDL-A). PREFERRED
- Must be capable of working independently without constant supervision.
- High School Diploma
