Job Description
UNIVERSAL BANKER 1
This position is the Customer Ambassador for the financial institution with the overall purpose of providing quality and efficiency to customers, often through digital or electronic interfaces. The Universal Banker is responsible for conducting teller transactions and cash vault transactions in an accurate and timely manner. The incumbent is also responsible for the sales and servicing of all bank products and services, solicits and develops a wide variety of residential mortgage loans. The incumbent works with the operations and sales team to achieve personal goals in the areas of deposit growth, business relationship growth, and consumer relationship growth. The incumbent also maintains current knowledge of competitor products, services, and current promotions. The
incumbent is also responsible for providing operational support and exceptional customer service while maintaining essential controls and safeguards.
Job Duties
- Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability, and posts transactions into bank records via an on-line terminal. Cashes check and pays money from savings and checking account upon verification of signatures and customer account balances.
- With a good understanding of the bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship, offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship. Evaluates needs of potential customers and offers appropriate financial products and services.
- Troubleshoots and resolves customer and internal inquiries in a timely, professional and accurate manner. Informs and advises customers of status or enhancements to current account productivity and suggests resolution on account disputes and other account activity.
- Solicits first mortgage loans, informs prospective loan clients of the financial institutions underwriting guidelines and government regulations
- Conducts the loan interview and secures the customer information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. The provides loan information and services to customers, realtors, and others as needed
- Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be mailed within the requested three business day period
- Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution
- Communicates approvals or denials to the borrower
Experience
Experience with Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), and Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), construction loans, bridge loans, and reverse mortgage loans.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
Other Skills
Is responsible for a width of information including but not limited to: the organizations current mortgage loan interest rates, commitment/rate lock/relock fee procedures, consumer loan products/rates/guidelines that are used in conjunction with Mortgage Lending (Execulines, second mortgage products, swing loans, land loans, etc.), Bankpro loan origination software system.
Available to work 7:45 - 5 Monday through Thursday
- 7:45- 5:30 Friday
- 7:45 – 12:30 Saturday, half day off the week that a Saturday is scheduled
- Average hours worked will be 37-40 hours per week
Two years of similar or related experience, including time
spent in preparatory positions.
Two years of previous experience preferred
Two year-college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade
Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
Attendance and reliability are crucial hours
