Job Description

Job Summary: This is a direct labor role within the designated department that also supports the Value Stream Manager in day-to-day activities of co-workers, special projects and trouble-shoot minor equipment, process, and quality issues. This individual is the subject matter expert and designated trainer for the department, interacts professionally and fosters teamwork between departments. An approachable, supportive demeanor is needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Effective collaboration and communication with others to assure orderly workflow
    • Effective performance requires a working knowledge of jobs and workflow in your assigned department
    • Ability to complete basic troubleshooting and root cause activities and communicate them effectively with others.
    • Detail orientation, eye and hand coordination, mechanical ability
    • Thorough understanding and set up ability for equipment and tools throughout the assigned department
    • Advanced blueprint reading
    • Knowledge of assembly processes and production flow
    • Ability to train on simple and complex assemblies, and Epicor transactions related to this Assembly Operations.
    • Must be able to work from job ticket, manuals, or verbal instructions
    • Fill in for absent plant personnel or where the workload indicates to perform various production process steps including special projects requiring independent action
    • Lead in training and cross training of employees
    • Keep work area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
    • Keep GEMBA boards updated and present during daily GEMBA walk.
    • Notify Manager of concerns when help is needed
    • Use appropriate tools and equipment necessary to perform the job

Equipment List

  • Hand tools including but not limited to torque wrench, screwdrivers, awl, wrenches, wire crimpers, cutters, strippers.
  • Pneumatic tools including caulk gun, pem inserter, and pop riveter.
  • Hoists and other lift assist equipment
  • Packaging Bander
  • Computer to test and document production units as well as job/payroll clocking.

Skills:

  • Setup experience specific to department or equipment
  • Ability to read, and understand drawings and work instructions to train, monitor, and execute assembly tasks.
  • Ability to mark up to/make suggestions on, updating work instructions.
  • Appropriate communication skills (Read, Write, Speak, Listen)
  • Process and detail orientation. Ability to discuss, deploy and document best practices to ensure quality and productivity expectations are achieved or exceeded.
