This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Team Leader - Public Records based in India.
This is a remote leadership opportunity for an experienced professional in US public records and background verification operations.
You will lead a team responsible for researching and analyzing US court and public record information.
The role combines people management, operational oversight, quality control, and process improvement.
You will ensure accurate reporting, strong productivity, and consistent adherence to SLAs and turnaround times.
Your expertise in US legal terminology and court documentation will help guide complex research and escalation decisions.
Working closely with Quality, Training, and Operations teams, you will drive continuous improvement and service excellence.

- Lead and manage a team of Public Records associates responsible for US court research and criminal background screening activities, including work allocation, productivity monitoring, coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Oversee research across local, state, and federal US court portals, ensuring accurate retrieval, review, and interpretation of court dockets and legal documentation.
- Ensure correct classification of felony, misdemeanor, and infraction charges; criminal and civil case types; and dispositions such as convictions, dismissals, acquittals, and pending cases.
- Drive adherence to quality standards, SLAs, turnaround times, productivity targets, and accuracy benchmarks across the team.
- Oversee end-to-end public records processes, including court research, criminal background checks, database searches, case validation, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, background verification guidelines, legal regulations, and confidentiality standards when handling sensitive information.
- Identify discrepancies, ambiguous cases, and operational issues, managing escalations and ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.
- Partner with Quality Assurance, Training, and Operations leadership to improve processes, strengthen service delivery, and address recurring performance gaps.
- Track operational KPIs and prepare accurate MIS and performance reports covering productivity, quality, SLA adherence, TAT, and escalations.
- Analyze performance trends, identify process gaps, and implement corrective and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to client satisfaction, team engagement, and employee retention.
- 3–6 years of total experience in background verification, KPO, or operations, with hands-on experience in US Public Records and background verification processes.
- At least 18 months of experience as a Team Leader, with demonstrated responsibility for managing teams and achieving operational targets and SLAs.
- Strong knowledge of US public records research, court websites, court structures, legal terminology, and court documentation.
- Experience interpreting court dockets and accurately understanding charges, case types, case statuses, and dispositions.
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate teams in a fast-paced, target-driven operational environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpretation skills, combined with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with QA, Training, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of quality, compliance, confidentiality, and data-handling requirements within background verification operations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MIS reporting, with strong data-handling and reporting capabilities.
- Familiarity with background verification tools and platforms is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills, accountability, and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- No employment gaps exceeding 5–6 months.
- Willingness and availability to work US shifts / night shifts, Monday to Friday.
