Job Description

The Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing and Wellness seeks an innovative and collaborative Nursing Informatics faculty member to provide leadership in teaching, curriculum development, scholarship, and service within undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The successful candidate will possess expertise in nursing informatics, healthcare technologies, artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, data analytics, clinical information systems, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

The faculty member will contribute to preparing nurses who can leverage information and communication technologies to improve patient outcomes, clinical decision-making, healthcare quality, safety, and organizational performance. .He or she will develop/revise curriculum and coordinate clinical placement experiences in a newly designed Nursing Informatics Graduate Program and teach in other areas of the nursing curriculum as needed.

This is a full time tenure-track 12 month position in the -Hackensack Meridian Health School of Nursing beginning Fall 2026.

Essential Functions:

  • Integrate the Mercy core values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing informatics courses in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
  • Develop innovative learning experiences utilizing simulation, virtual learning technologies, and educational technologies.
  • Integrate AI, clinical decision support, data science, and digital health technologies throughout nursing curricula.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Supervise MSN capstones, and graduate research as appropriate.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate nursing informatics curriculum.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate informatics competencies across all nursing courses.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement of informatics education.
  • Evaluate student learning using evidence-based educational strategies.
  • Participate in departmental, university school service;
  • Collaborate in program development, student recruitment, student remediation, and continuous program assessment and improvement;
  • Regularly participate in course assessment and program assessment and be willing to make improvements in teaching/advising;
  • Engage in scholarly activities including original research, presentations and publications.
  • Teach at the Lakewood campus, off site locations, in the evening and weekends and over the summer
  • Teach in the regular, ABSN and DEMSN program including summer offerings as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in on-going off site teaching initiatives
  • Coordinate on campus and off site clinical learning laboratory activities
  • Investigate new technology to enhance the learning environment for students
  • Communicate with clinical instructors on the required skills and competencies required of students in a changing health care environment.
  • Participate in departmental functions such as lectures, Open House, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required/ Doctoral Degree strongly preferred;
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a RN in New Jersey.
  • Graduate preparation or significant experience in Nursing Informatics
  • Certification in Nursing Informatics strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in teaching in the classroom
  • Prior experience in other nursing specialties desirable
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence.
    Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technologies effectively is essential; Familiarity with distance learning is desirable.
  • Commitment to active, learner centered teaching.
    Experience assessing learning outcomes in courses and programs.
  • Knowledge of nursing curricular design/assessment and BON and/or CCNE accreditation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students and faculty
  • Strong clinical nursing skillset and recent clinical experience preferred
