About the Position:
The Lead Café Server plays a key leadership role in the daily operation of the café by providing exceptional guest service while helping oversee front-of-house operations during assigned shifts. In addition to serving guests, this position acts as a resource for team members, coordinates workflow, assists with training, and helps ensure service, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently maintained.
The Lead Café Server works closely with café management to support daily operations, resolve guest concerns, monitor cash handling procedures, and help create a welcoming environment for guests, employees, and Extended Care clients.
Schedule:
Per Diem, Wednesday through Sunday, mix of 6:30 am - 2:30 pm and 8:00 am - 4:00 pm shifts
Your Role:
- Lead front-of-house operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth, efficient service
- Greet and seat guests, present menus, and provide exceptional table service
- Coordinate workflow and provide day-to-day guidance and support to Café Servers and newer team members
- Assist with onboarding and training staff on service standards, sanitation, safety procedures, and café operations
- Monitor the dining room to maintain high standards of guest service, cleanliness, and organization
- Address guest questions, concerns, and service recovery needs in a professional and timely manner
- Assist Extended Care clients working in the café by providing coaching, encouragement, and guidance when appropriate
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, including end-of-shift balancing and closeout procedures
- Support opening and closing responsibilities and help ensure café and designated areas are properly secured
- Partner with café management to identify operational improvements and maintain consistent service standards
- Complete assigned Relias training in a timely manner
- Comply with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum two (2) years of restaurant, café, or food service experience required
- Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring team members preferred
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required
- Experience handling cash and point-of-sale (POS) systems required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- ServSafe Certification preferred

Compensation:
The base rate of pay for this position is $18.00 per hour plus tips. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
