Restorative Nurse (RN)

Job Title: Restorative Nurse (RN)
Department: Nursing / Restorative Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON) / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Restorative Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the facility's restorative nursing program. This position promotes residents’ highest level of physical functioning, independence, mobility, and quality of life through individualized restorative nursing interventions. The Restorative RN works closely with nursing staff, therapy services, physicians, residents, and families to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate restorative care programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized restorative nursing programs based on each resident’s needs and plan of care.
  • Assess residents for restorative nursing needs and identify changes in functional status.
  • Coordinate restorative programs related to mobility, range of motion, ambulation, positioning, transfers, activities of daily living, and other functional abilities.
  • Monitor residents’ progress and revise restorative interventions as needed.
  • Ensure restorative programs are accurately documented in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physical, occupational, and speech therapy departments to promote continuity of care and maximize resident outcomes.
  • Train and educate CNAs and nursing staff on restorative nursing techniques and resident-specific interventions.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure restorative programs are being followed and documented appropriately.
  • Ensure CNAs maintain weights
  • Participate in care plan meetings and contribute to the development and updating of resident-centered care plans.
  • Communicate significant changes in residents’ condition or functional abilities to the appropriate members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities related to restorative nursing.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for regulatory and clinical purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Previous long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
  • Experience with restorative nursing, rehabilitation, or geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Knowledge of MDS, care planning, and long-term care regulations preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to resident care.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and assist with resident care as required.
  • Ability to assist with or supervise transfers and mobility activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to safely perform job duties in a nursing home environment.
