Job Description
For the 2026-2027 school year, we’re looking for Part-Time Afterschool Enrichment Teachers to lead hands-on, project-based classes for small groups of students (capped at around 12) in one or more of the following areas:
- STEM and Maker (examples electronics, engineering and coding)
- Visual and Performing Arts
- Outdoor Education
- Sewing and Textile Crafts
- Woodworking and Design
Salary Range: $20 - $40 per hour
Position Type: School year, part-time
Class Days and Time: Classes meet once per week from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on one or more weekdays, and run in approximately 12-week trimesters (Fall, Winter, and Spring)
Additional Hours: Opportunities to teach during vacation and summer camps
Start Date: As soon as you are available
Key Responsibilities for Curriculum Development & Instruction
- Design and deliver project-based enrichment curriculum tailored to student cohorts across three age bands: lower elementary, intermediate/upper elementary, and middle/upper school.
- Tailor instructional approaches to diverse learning styles and interests, while prioritizing safety, self-management, and stewardship of shared workspaces - including classrooms and our sunlit, window-lined Innovation Lab.
- Champion student growth over perfection and bring genuine personal alignment with Acera's mission and core values to the work.
Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience is highly desired, but for the right candidate, teaching mentoring may be made available in lieu of substantial prior teaching experience.
Great skills in specialist areas and relevant tool use.
- Highly organized and able to steward workspaces with care, to leave a ready-to-go, predictable space for others.
- Experience setting norms for safety.
- Flexible and adaptable for changes and surprises; able to cope with a vibrant and busy environment.
- A genuine commitment to each students’ growth, happiness and authentic engagement.
- Collaborative working style with colleagues and students alike
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Application
Please submit a cover letter and resume, along with a brief statement outlining any relevant experience consulting for independent schools, and compensation expectations.
