Job Description
The Care4Kids Eligibility Services Support Specialist provides a full range of services and administrative support functions, including front desk reception for the C4K Program. Areas of the program supported include but are not limited to eligibility services, document center, contact center, and technical teams. This position strives to fulfill the mission of United Way of Connecticut (UWC) at all times while at work.
What you will do
- As a receptionist, serve visitors by welcoming, directing, and announcing them appropriately.
- Provides courteous and accurate responses to walk-in inquiries from clients regarding program and case specific information.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to Child Care Services and other UWC business units.
- Adheres to and enforces security procedures by controlling access to units, keeping logs, and issuing visitor badges.
- Provides point of contact for employer verification of employment and work schedules for Eligibility Services.
- Documents schedule verification in the Eligibility Services system.
- Assists document center with inbound and outbound mail, scanning, and indexing functions.
- Processes data integrity reports, researches W-9s, and processes duplicate requests for invoices and certificates.
- Handles calls from clients, providing detailed information about eligibility requirements and documents cases.
- Assists with mailing of monthly notices.
- Tracks document center original forms folder to bring up to date.
- Performs Quality Assurance functions of reconciling paper copies with scanned and imaged documents in the system.
- Logs into the system all correspondence and documents sent out manually by staff.
- Completes system actions as indicated on reports.
- Reports trends in client questions or concerns and recommends service improvements.
- Immediately reports any technical problems with equipment, systems, or facilities to the appropriate staff member.
- Consistently meets defined production and quality standards.

The Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Full-Time)
- Associate's degree in secretarial sciences or a related field with one year related administrative experience preferred or a High School Diploma/GED with three years of related administrative experience required.
- Knowledge and experience in office systems and procedures required.
- Considerable knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation and spelling a necessity.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, including MS Access, and the ability to format and design documents required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work under moderate supervision.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in day-to-day duties.
- Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.
- Strong customer focus in all tasks and activities, even while under pressure.
- Solid problem solving skills.
- Ability to work and produce in a team environment.
- Ability to relate well with people from diverse groups.
- Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the UWC Mission.
The Pay & Benefits: $17.30 per hour
