Jobsite Supervisor Job Description

The Jobsite Supervisor responsible for planning and ensuring the coordination of construction projects. This role involves supervising the entire construction project, ensuring that the quality of work and materials is maintained, and that the project stays within the planned budget. The superintendent oversees all site operations, ensuring that subcontractors follow the design plans accurately. Monitoring the workers and tracking project progress, the superintendent reports to the project manager. This position holds accountability for all activities on the construction site and ensures that the project is completed on time, with installations adhering to specifications to meet the expectations of the owner, architect, and engineers.

Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to

  • Understand and knowledge of site work, concrete, steel structure, roof, underground utilities, perimeter exterior walls, MEP components, and interior building construction.
  • Being on the construction site constantly ensuring all aspects of construction meet standards and guidelines.
  • Implement the company’s safety policy to field employees and subcontractors daily.
  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform quality control regarding the work being performed.
  • Ensuring that the reports, records, timesheets, and other documents adhere to company policy and procedure.
  • Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
  • Maintain a detailed daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite to include pictures.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously if required.
  • Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
  • Walk all scope installed daily on your project to monitor activities, confirming schedule is met and projecting future project activities.
  • Prepare, preside, and keep weekly sign in sheets for subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
  • Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors for quality of work or scheduling.
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept clean daily and organized.
  • Perform job progress reports daily.
  • Pre-punch, and completion punch list for completion of project.

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field. In lieu of a degree, or experience is considered.
  • Five years of experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites.
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
  • Familiarity with Life Safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate for a positive solution.

Working conditions

  • This position requires 75% -100 travel locally.
  • This position requires hours outside of normal business hours. It may require weekends, evenings, overnights, etc.
  • This role requires occasional periods of times in the office.
  • This role requires extended time on jobsites.

Physical requirements

  • This role is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
