Trailer Handyman in Augusta, Georgia at Matthews Motors

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Trailer Handyman to support our Trailer Department. In this role, you will assist with trailer inspections, basic repairs, maintenance, and ensuring all trailers meet safety and regulatory standards. Tasks include working with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, organizing tools, and maintaining a clean workspace.

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required; vocational training or certification in automotive technology or a related field is advantageous.

• Previous experience in trailer maintenance or a related field is often preferred, especially for more advanced roles.

• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of trailers.

• Understanding of trailer components, such as brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and welding techniques.

• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to trailer maintenance and repair.

• Strong troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve issues.

• Ability to conduct thorough inspections and ensure all components are in proper working condition.

• Trailer technicians often need to lift heavy parts, maneuver under trailers, and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and potentially clients.

• Familiarity with various hand and power tools used in trailer repair. Will be required to bring your own tools

• Certain positions may require a valid driver's license for test driving trailers after repairs.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques as the trailer industry evolves.

• Efficiently managing time to complete repairs and maintenance tasks within specified deadlines.

• Strong collaborative skills when working with other technicians or team members.
