About This Position
Marquee Sports Network is searching for our next team member! The Digital Content Producer/Editor is responsible for editing, writing and properly packaging compelling video and written content for Marquee Sports Network's direct-to-consumer app, website and social media platforms. This job requires a disciplined editor, writer and content creator who effectively uses a wide range of tools across Marquee's digital channels.
This position will report directly to the Senior Digital Content Manager within the Content Team. Some of the duties will include:
- Produce timely, relevant video and written content for the app and website in a fast-paced newsroom environment with consistent deadlines.
- Edit and curate the app with videos, program hero images and send push notifications around game starts, trending content, breaking news and more
- Monitor news sources, in-house assets and live games to identify audience-friendly content for all platforms
- Coordinate with colleagues on best practices for content display and distribution, including headline and caption checks and proper use of complementary media such as photos and video
- Effectively package and promote content on major social media platforms, especially Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube
- Handle in-game social media duties as assigned, quickly cutting clips from live games and posting to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Must have ability to identify viral moments and write compelling and engaging captions
- Properly prioritize production of video and written content, and ensure that it's engaging, accurate, informative and current on all platforms
- Collaborate across all content groups to execute shared editorial opportunities while being aware of business and sales priorities
- Cover live events (e.g. games, practices, press conferences) as assigned, offering multiplatform content (e.g. articles, videos, social media posts) that helps the company reach KPIs
Minimum qualifications include:
- BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 1-3 years' experience working in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including many nights and weekends
Preferred qualifications include:
- Demonstrated experience in video content creation, preferably with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign) and AVID.
- Proven writing and editing skills (in terms of quality and proficiency) with a strong knowledge of AP style and SEO.
- Excellent news judgment, and demonstrated ability to think quickly, properly prioritize tasks, and act appropriately under high pressure.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media tools, including (but not limited to) Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky and YouTube. Experience working with corporate-branded accounts is a plus.
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently with constructive supervision and be effective within a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of sports (particularly baseball and football) and understanding what content drives digital audience interest. Deep understanding of Chicago sports is a plus.
