Job Summary:

A Commercial HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial buildings. Key duties include diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC system issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring systems comply with safety and efficiency standards. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Additionally, technicians must possess good customer service skills as they often interact with clients to explain repairs and maintenance procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May assist with recruitment, interview, hire, and train new staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing issues with HVAC and refrigeration systems through observation, testing, and setup procedures.
  • Disassemble and reassemble commercial HVACR equipment to perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to service equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Complete electronic documentation of service tasks, materials used, and labor hours.
  • Explain service charges and work performed to customers' satisfaction.
  • Maintain inventory stock on service vehicles.
  • Reconcile work order documents, vendor packing slips, and weekly timesheets for supervisor review.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of commercial HVACR experience preferred
  • Valid A or B HVACR license is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications for proper installation and repair.
  • Valid EPA Certification and required state registrations.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling, lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather both indoors and outdoors: this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
