FLOOR TECH at Forrest General Hospital – Prentiss, Mississippi

Job Summary:

Performs cleaning, maintenance of all hospital floors to include, cleaning, stripping, waxing, and

buffing on a routine and project basis. Performs cleaning and shampooing of carpeted areas.

Maintains equipment in clean, working condition. Will demonstrate proper use of chemicals and

other supplies. May be responsible for moving furniture and equipment eg: floor

scrubbers, buffing machines, bins of clean and dirty linen, and bins of hospital garbage and

contaminated waste. Will be exposed to various types of chemicals. Demonstrates knowledge

and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all

age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Demonstrate ability to strip, wax and buff on a routine and project basis. Demonstrate proper use of chemicals and equipment. Demonstrate ability to shampoo and extract carpet. Demonstrate the ability to keep equipment clean and working condition. Demonstrate the ability to move furniture and equipment. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact with the patients, families and visitors for all age groups.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Work Experience:

One year previous work experience preferred. Previous experience in housekeeping or in

Healthcare field preferred.

Ability to perform repetitive tasks, accept disrupting work flow, take verbal/written instructions

and follow them precisely, demonstrate cooperativeness, good judgment, initiative, ability to

relate well to other people, work without close supervision, possess good verbal/written

communication skills.
