JOB RELATIONSHIPS

• Responsible to: Radiology Director and Cath Lab Supervisor

DEFINITION OF POSITION

• Cardiac Catheterization Technologist will perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional

• Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training
• Completion of one year of Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath training
• ACLS certification within 3 months of employment and annually thereafter required
• One year experience as a Cardiac Cath Technologist
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training; and/or RCIS.

Personal

• Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and staff.
• Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
• Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients.
• Must be able to work near blood, bodily fluids and a strong magnetic field.

Physical

• Stamina -Capable of sitting/standing/walking for long periods of time.
• Strength - Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients.
• Reflexes/Agility -Minimally capable of:
  • Stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending.
  • Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies, i.e. fire.
• Hearing and Visual Acuity
  • Capable of hearing and responding to patients and staff with inquiries.
  • Visual acuity that permits reading, writing, monitoring office equipment, i.e., computers, copy machines.
• Dexterity - Hand dexterity permitting efficient operation of office machines i.e., computers, copy machines, and writing skills to facilitate documentation of messages, correspondence, etc.
