About This Position
REPORTS TO: PURCHASING SUPERVISOR
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE
Using system tools and frequent communication with internal and external contacts, coordinates materials requirements and delivery schedules for assigned products and vendors. Position encompasses the flow of data and materials from the time that a material requirement is recognized/purchased to the receipt of these materials.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and manage purchase orders for area of responsibility, ensuring timely confirmation and delivery.
- Actively track and manage all back-ordered products with each supplier to effect timely resolution.
- Will be responsible for part shortage reporting and associated steps taken to address the issues.
- Optimize inventory to support production needs and meet target inventory levels and turns.
- Maintain relevant data in the MRP system, item master to include lead-time, order requirements, safety stock, and other order modifiers.
- Have an active role in the identification, disposition, and report of OSMI (Obsolete/Slow Moving Inventory).
- Actively assist in managing vendor relationships, including vendor compliance enforcement.
- Continuously review purchased items and make recommendations to management based on history, forecasts, and trends.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of work by concentrating on and paying attention to detailed information.
- Data collection/reporting for supplier metrics and general analysis.
- Will take part in continuous improvement initiatives.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Associates degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field. (Preferred)
- Other degrees or equal work experience may be considered as well.
- Minimum of one year’s purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Solid foundation with Microsoft Office365.
- APICS certification a plus but not required.
- Technical Skills:
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
o Proficient Microsoft Office 365 (intermediate knowledge of Excel preferred).
o Strong knowledge of ERP software systems.
o Ability to anticipate and analyze problems, suggest and implement solutions to routine situations such as delays to schedules, material shortages and daily systems transaction errors.
o Ability to communicate (in the English language) with customers, vendors, and company personnel in a positive and proactive manner.
o Ability to take initiative and work independently, with minimal day-to-day supervision.
o Ability to extract and analyze data from various systems and make purchasing recommendations to management.
o Strong organizational skills, with the ability to attend to multiple concurrent tasks.
- Mathematical Skills:
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
