Location: Carroll Hospital, Westminster, MD
Shift: 6:45PM-7:15AM | 12-hour shifts | Full-Time | On-Site
Department: Float Pool
Carroll Hospital is seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team. This is a premium opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to work across a variety of inpatient units. The Float Pool RN will be expected to provide high-quality, evidence-based care while floating between Med-Surg, IMC, PCU, CCU, and the Emergency Department based on staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Practice:

Utilize sound clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and decision-making

Apply evidence-based practice and situational learning in patient care

Accurately assess and document patient condition, pain, and comfort measures

Develop individualized plans of care, discharge planning, and educational support
Collaboration & Communication:
-
Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate and integrate patient care
-
Participate in daily team huddles, patient care discussions, and team meetings
-
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure timely follow-up
-
Provide patient and family education to support informed decision-making
Professionalism & Innovation:
-
Stay current with nursing best practices, research, and hospital protocols
-
Engage in quality improvement efforts and peer review
-
Demonstrate customer service excellence and uphold hospital standards

Follow standard algorithms, protocols, and safety policies across all units
Patient Safety & Experience:
-
Perform hourly rounding and proactive patient engagement
-
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families
-
Be aware of and work toward the reduction of Nurse Sensitive Indicators (NSIs)
-
Active RN license with the Maryland Board of Nursing (or compact state eligibility)

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification – Required

AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – Required

Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an IMC or higher-acuity care setting
