Job Description

UNIT SUMMARY: The Gastrointestinal/Genitourinary Unit (GI/GU) is a 19-27 bed inpatient medical surgical unit offering 24- hour care to adult and geriatric patients with diverse gastrointestinal and genitourinary diagnoses such as: Abdominal pain of unknown etiology, Gallbladder Disease, GI Bleeds, Surgery of the Colon, Gallbladder, Liver, Pancreas, Prostate, and Spleen, Infections, Neoplasms, and Ostomies. We are committed to effectively managing the pain of our patients and offer PCA and epidural PCA monitoring post-operatively as the needs indicate. We offer continuous pulse oximetry in 8 rooms for patients requiring this type of monitoring post-operatively. We are committed to quality care, patient, and staff satisfaction. 
JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college)
  • Requires knowledge of a specialized field.
  • Associate's degree or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse, registered to practice in Maryland.
  • American Heart Association CPR Certification.
