Job Summary:
Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient (Full Time, Day Shift)
Sinai Chicago is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Overnight Pharmacy Technician to support our inpatient pharmacy operations during the night shift.
This full-time role plays a key part in ensuring medication safety, timely delivery, and sterile compounding across the hospital during off-hours.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, reliable, and experienced in hospital workflows, particularly IV preparation and automation systems. Schedule: Full-Time – 11-hour shifts 9:30 PM to 8:30 AM (2130–0830)
Key Responsibilities: Compound sterile IV preparations following USP 797/800 standards
Prepare and deliver medications to nursing units and restock Omnicell cabinets
Perform crash cart restocking, medication returns, and unit dose packaging
Manage overnight medication requests and troubleshoot missing med issues
Maintain cleanroom logs, delivery records, and compliance documentation
Communicate with overnight pharmacists and nursing to ensure continuity of care
Support compliance with inventory rotation and controlled substance handling
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program or 500 hours of pharmacy technician experience prior to 1/24/2024.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with IV mixtures and unit dose drug distribution. (Is this experience that a new grad would have? If not, we should indicate this is preferred.)
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proficient computer skills and ability to type 30 words per minute.
- Good writing and verbal communication skills.

Hospital pharmacy experience preferred

Sterile compounding experience preferred

Ability to work independently, follow procedures and manage time efficiently.

Comfortable working night shifts in a hospital environment
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Illinois Pharmacy Technician license required.
- If license was issued after 1/1/2008, Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is required within two years of licensure. Once certified, active certification must be maintained. Techs with student designation on their license are exempt from this requirement.
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (required) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT (required)
