Produce Production Team Lead
Full-time | Commissary (129 Railside Road)
Sunday–Thursday 5:00 AM Start | Friday & Saturdays Off

About Summerhill Market
Summerhill Market isn’t your typical grocery store. We’re a Toronto boutique grocer known for scratch-made prepared foods, freshly baked treats, and on-trend ingredients that food lovers can’t get enough of. We move fast, stay ahead of the curve, and never settle for “good enough.” Our mission? To delight customers with every visit — whether that’s helping them discover something new or making their day with genuine service.

Now we’re looking for a strong, people-first leader to oversee our Produce Production team at the Commissary. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early mornings, leads from the floor, and can confidently manage and motivate a large team.

What you’ll do
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 25–30 production team members
• Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to performance and quality standards
• Oversee daily prep of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables for store distribution
• Manage ordering of produce and supplies to support daily production needs
• Monitor inventory levels, ensure proper rotation (FIFO), and minimize waste
• Ensure all recipes, portioning, and food safety standards are followed
• Manage workflow, staffing, and task delegation to meet production targets
• Identify opportunities for efficiency, training, and continuous improvement
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety compliance
• Act as the key point of contact between production staff and leadership

What we’re looking for
• Proven experience managing large teams (20+ employees) in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with ordering, inventory management, and supply planning
• Strong leadership presence — confident, fair, and able to motivate a diverse team
• Ability to start at 5:00 AM and work a consistent Sunday–Thursday schedule
• Highly organized with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Hands-on, lead-by-example mindset (not afraid to jump in)
• Solid understanding of food safety and production standards
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
• Reliable, accountable, and solutions-focused

Perks of working here
• Weekly pay
• Employee discount on gourmet groceries and prepared meals
• Employer-paid benefits for full-time employees
• Flexible schedule
• A dynamic, inclusive workplace that celebrates its people
• Complimentary work swag (we’ll keep you looking sharp)
• Easily accessible store locations
