Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico Valencia Campus is seeking anEducation Specialist. The Education Specialist will have direct oversight of thePasos Resource Center to include the STEM Tutoring and all college-level UNMValencia Campus peer tutors including hiring, training, scheduling, performanceevaluations, tutoring data collection, analysis, and reporting. The EducationSpecialist will become proficient via tracking system, student retention,scheduling, and reporting system. In collaboration with the Writing CenterDirector, this position creates and provides relevant training for student tutors, front deskreceptionists, and peer mentors that is accessible, practical,relationship-centered, equity focused, data-informed, sustainable, with anemphasis on instructional design; providing training to faculty on how toevaluate tutoring needs and best serve the student population. The EducationSpecialist will collaborate with the Director of the Writing Center in trainingSTEM and Writing tutors.

This individual must possess strong interpersonalskills to manage and facilitate program activities including monitoring of theprogram budget. This individual will interact collaboratively with faculty torecruit qualified peer tutors and in providing individual, group, and embedded tutoringservices specific to the academic needs of the UNM Valencia Campus. Duties willinclude the development of curricula, relevant presentations and materialsworkshops, and other academic and tutoring training services including a focuson assisting students with learning challenges.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in ruralValencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-yearbranch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a communitycollege in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academictransfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, andDual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,000 credit students persemester.
