Position Overview
The Electrical Apprentice participates in a structured learning program to develop foundational skills and knowledge in electrical systems and equipment used in cement manufacturing operations. This role works under the direct guidance of experienced electricians and supervisors, supporting installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical plant electrical infrastructure while building technical competency and safety awareness.
What You'll Do
- Work alongside Journeyman Electricians to install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and systems including motors, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
- Learn and assist with electrical construction tasks such as conduit bending and threading, cable runs, and NEC-compliant installations.
- Learn to identify and diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment and established troubleshooting techniques.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical failures to minimize downtime and support efficient plant operations.
- Learn to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Support maintenance teams with electrical repairs, upgrades, and system modifications.
- Learn basic functionality and application of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Abide by and support all company and plant safety policies, procedures, and MSHA regulations.

What You'll Bring
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in electrical systems and industrial machinery.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow direction from supervisors and electricians.
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts including voltage, current, resistance, and circuitry.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a vocational or technical program in electrical technology preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively using appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently once trained and remain self-motivated.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment while adhering to company and MSHA safety policies.
