Field Sr. Technician III - Civil Engineering in Elko, Nevada at NewFields Mining Design & Technical Services, LLC

This position requires written and verbal communication skills to effectively interface with staff personnel, clients, and vendors. An employee in this position is expected to work as a member of diverse project teams and accomplish specific tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Preform aspects of construction material testing for both field and laboratory testing on large scale projects. Be familiar with ASTM Standards, comprehension of field drawings and specifications.

• Manages a staff from one to five personnel.

• Liaison with the Engineer's, client's, and contractor's on site.

• Perform testing of materials including soils, aggregates, cement, and asphalt.

• Establish field work assignments and work priorities for field staff.

• Prepare accurate and professional daily observation reports of daily activities.

• Train of technicians on field and laboratory test and procedures.

The position includes essential job functions that require regular travel by automobile or air and participation in field activities. These activities may involve prolonged walking or standing, navigating uneven or natural terrain, climbing, stooping or kneeling, entry into confined spaces, and incidental lifting, carrying, or handling of equipment or samples of construction or environmental materials. Job duties also require travel to active field sites where conditions may include work at heights, underground locations, exposure to active construction or natural environments, use of required personal protective equipment, elevated noise levels, dust, and working in extreme weather conditions, including heat and freezing temperatures. Field activities may occur on a periodic or regular basis depending on assignment, and actual duties and field conditions may vary based on project needs. Education: High School or GED equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in construction materials testing is required.

Computer Software: Position requires applicant to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office© software including Access, excel, word and outlook.

Travel: Ability to travel in the U.S. and internationally to support field construction materials testing and oversite.

Physical Demands: Position may require sitting for extended periods of time, extended hours working remotely on various field projects and lifting up to 50 pounds. Field assignments are located in a variety of climactic conditions and may require standing, squatting, bending, the use of machinery and a variety tools.

Certifications or Training: ACI GRADE I, ACI Concrete Special inspector, WAQTC / NQAT, NICET Level III-IV, ICC special inspector training, Nuclear Density Gauge Training.
