Instructor – Game Art, Assets & Animation ICourse Title: Game Art, Assets & Animation I

Schedule: Once per week, 3-hour class
Primary Software: BlenderCourse OverviewGame Art, Assets & Animation I is the first of two courses in visual game design. This course introduces students to foundational concepts and principles of art and asset creation for digital games. With a focus on game art, aesthetics, and genre, students learn to design and create visual assets used in interactive media.Students explore both analog and 2D animation techniques while developing characters, environments, and game-ready assets. The course emphasizes creative problem-solving, visual storytelling, and practical workflows for game production, with Blender used as the primary digital tool.ResponsibilitiesTeach foundational concepts of game art, aesthetics, and visual designIntroduce analog and 2D animation techniques for gamesGuide students in creating characters, environments, and game assetsInstruct students in Blender for asset creation and animationProvide feedback, critiques, and technical supportFoster an inclusive, supportive, and creative learning environmentPrepare lesson plans and course materials aligned with learning outcomesRequired QualificationsProfessional experience in game art, animation, or digital asset creationProficiency with BlenderStrong understanding of game art styles, genres, and visual pipelinesTeaching experience or demonstrated ability to mentor studentsPreferred QualificationsExperience teaching at the post-secondary or youth education levelBackground in visual game design or interactive mediaFamiliarity with additional game engines or asset pipelinesCompensationCompensation is commensurate with experience and institutional guidelines.
