We are looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer at our Tonawanda, NY location. This full-time, exempt position is responsible
for the independent and collaborative development, testing, and documentation of general automation and PLC/HMI control systems’ hardware and software, pneumatic systems, and all documentation and diagrams associated with. Primary responsibility for factory testing, commissioning, and field acceptance of our scope of products. This role will include a mix of office time, shop time, and occasional travel internationally and domestically.
The Electrical Controls Engineer will also have responsibility for electrical schematics, junction box layouts, complicated engineering designs, and support of any team members. They should have a firm understanding of governing electrical codes and engineering principles. They are well rounded and excited about all areas of their product, including hardware, software, testing, and support and are able to apply critical thinking to system design & drafting, product improvements, tool and workflow usage, customer support, and general problem-solving situations. Functions will generally be conducted under the guidance of experienced engineering staff but do require independent problem solving and decision making.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Requirements:- Read and interpret internal, and customers’ provided electrical specifications and sales literature.
- Design drawing packages and architecture for provided electrical or PLC/HMI control systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design codes (NEC/CEC/CE/IEC w/ Occasional Others)
- Design PLC software control and HMI visualization for a variety of equipment types.
- Occasional shop testing of electrical systems. Critical safety focus and use of PPE required.
- Occasional field commissioning or testing of final products at customer facilities
- Possess knowledge of instrumentation, signals, and their applications
- Familiar with a variety of electrical terminology, practices, and procedures.
- Provide required support during fabrication of design and during NRTL inspection.
- Assist project engineers with technical concerns as required.
- Ability to multitask between 5-7 projects simultaneously – appropriate clerical organization is critical.
