About This Position
Under supervision from the Supervisor, Building Services, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of assigned buildings, mechanical equipment, and related facilities. This position may also receive technical and functional supervision from the Building Services Technician III.
Hours of operation are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday
Requires onsite availability daily.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, generators, electric, plumbing, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, UPS systems
- Lead and participate in preventive and corrective maintenance, installations, and repairs for buildings, equipment, and facilities.
- Develop work schedules, methods, and cost estimates; ensure timely completion of projects.
- Assess materials and labor needs; purchase supplies; maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and costs.
- Trains and mentors lower-level maintenance staff, providing guidance on best practices and safety protocols.
- Coordinates with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services as needed.
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Conducts regular inspections of facilities to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Snow removal
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- Building Technician III -Requires 7+ years of progressively responsible building maintenance experience.
- Building Technician II – Requires 4 years of progressively responsible building maintenance experience.
- Building Technician I – Requires 0-1 year of experience or completion of course work and training in building trades.
- Advanced knowledge of building trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and safety practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Proven ability to lead teams, train staff, and manage complex projects.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Ability to perform administrative and management duties with minimal direction from a supervisor.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the public.
- Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.
- Must possess either HVAC or electrical journeyman’s license from the commonwealth of VA or be able to obtain within 1 year.
- Must possess a CFC license or be able to obtain within 1 year.
- Must be available to work evenings/weekends/on-call.
- Ability to work outside in cold weather.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to climb and work from elevated heights from ladders and lifts.
