POSITION SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:
The MST Therapist is responsible for providingevidence-based intensive family and community-based treatment for at-risk youthwith intensive needs and their families. MST intervention is a short-term(three to five months), intensive, and community-based clinical interventionaimed at promoting pro-social behavior and interrupting the child's involvementwith the juvenile justice system. MST is non-traditional as services aredelivered in the child's community and home instead of in an office setting.MST addresses the core causes of delinquent and antisocial conduct byidentifying key drivers of the behaviors through an ecological assessment ofthe child.
This position works independently, under limitedsupervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Abachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-yearcollege or university with minimum of two years of experience working inservices for families and/or youth or master's degree in clinical or counselingPsychology, Social Work, or a related subject area. Professional licensure asLPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, or LMSW under clinical supervision, or fulllicensure as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW preferred.
Experience Required: At least 2 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
Registration, Certification, Licensure or otherQualifications Required:
- Mustmaintain a valid Texas Driver's license, auto liability insurance and a drivingrecord acceptable to PermiaCare's insurance requirements.
- Requiredto pass criminal history and background checks as well as pre-employment drugscreen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ConductMST assessments including review of referral information, identifying, andengaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, anddeveloping an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecologicalcontext.
- Engageprimary caregiver(s) and other key participants in active change-orientedtreatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
- Implementa problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation,outcomes review and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process.
- Therapistwill be expected to maintain a caseload of 4-6 cases.
- Maintainclear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer andsupervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the nineMST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.
- Providedirect clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles andpractices.
- Participatein all MST training, supervision, consultation, and MST Therapist developmentactivities.
- Ensurefidelity to MST service models as promulgated by the Health and Human ServicesCommission (HHSC) and MST Services, Inc.
- Ensureachievement of productivity targets as set forth by PermiaCare leadership.
- Meet unitperformance measures or targets.
- Ensurecoordination of MST services to designated caseloads.
- Enteraccurate and appropriate documentation of services within the timeframerequired.
- Maintainconfidentiality of sensitive records and treatment information, client filesand protected health information in compliance with HIPAA, laws, rules andregulations, and established procedures.
- Maintainregular and reliable physical on-site attendance. Regular attendance,dependability, and promptness are required for the scheduled workday 100% ofthe time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program's processes.
- Complywith the Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation policy and reporting requirements.
- Adhere tothe Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior policy requirements.
- Establishand maintain effective work relationships with individuals served and theirfamilies, supervisors, co-workers, and visitors by demonstrating cooperative,courteous, and respectful behavior always.
- Communicateregularly with supervisor.
- Open andprocess mail/email in a timely manner.
- Answerphone, collect phone messages and respond to requests timely and accurately.
- Maintainsafe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules andregulations.
- Performall work functions and interactions using a trauma informed approach.
- Displayprofessionalism when representing PermiaCare and the program in the community.
- Maintaincompliance with legal requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Maintainvalid and current driver's license, auto insurance, acceptable driving recordand reliable transportation at all times. Driving may be required for thisposition.
- Completeall training as assigned prior to the due date.
