Financial Counselor Position Summary

The Financial Counselor helps patients understand and manage the financial aspects of their healthcare services. The role typically involves providing assistance with billing, insurance verification, and financial assistance programs, ensuring that patients are aware of their financial obligations and available options.

Financial Counselor Position Requirements

Education

• High School graduate or equivalent required.

Experience

• At least one (1) year of business office experience required.
• Must have computer experience.
• Experience in healthcare billing, collection, or registration preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance issues, uniform billing requirements, HIPAA transaction code sets, state and federal collection law, and payer contractual relationships preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Prefer knowledge of second foreign language other than English, preferably Spanish, Haitian or Creole.

Financial Counselor Schedule

Monday – Friday, primarily day shift and weekends as required. Rotating day, evening, week and weekend as required.

Financial Counselor Benefits

At TidalHealth, team members working at least 36 hours per pay period based on 12-hour shift schedules or at least 37.5 hours for non 12-hour shift schedules and part-time team members working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.

Salary range: $18.08 - $27.11 Commensurate with experience
