Overview
The Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum (CJM) seeks a strategic and creative Senior Manager of Marketing to lead marketing efforts at a critical moment of growth. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this role sits within the Advancement team and plays a central role in driving attendance, deepening engagement, and supporting the Museum’s revenue goals.The Senior Manager of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that promote exhibitions, programs, membership, and fundraising initiatives. This role works closely with colleagues across curatorial, education, development, and operations to ensure cohesive, compelling, and effective communications.

Located at 3rd and F Streets NW in Washington, DC—steps from the National Building Museum and Union Station—the Capital Jewish Museum opened in June 2023 and has welcomed nearly 45,000 visitors to date. CJM explores the Jewish experience in the nation’s capital region and inspires audiences to connect across families and communities, reflect on the relevance of history to today, and act on behalf of their communities and values. Through exhibitions, public programs, education initiatives, and partnerships, CJM serves both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences from the DC region and beyond.Key Responsibilities
- Marketing and Communications Strategy
- In partnership with Museum leadership, develop and execute creative digital and print campaigns that drive attendance, expand brand awareness, and generate revenue.
- Identify, cultivate, and implement advertising opportunities, promotional partnerships, and cross-promotions with peer institutions and community partners.
- Use website and digital analytics as well as attendance data to inform content, audience targeting, and marketing strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferable.
- 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in marketing and communications.
- Demonstrated experience promoting exhibitions, events, or programs in a museum, cultural institution, performing arts organization, or other mission-driven organization that relies on public attendance.
- Experience engaging with local or national press, including drafting press materials, pitching stories, or serving as a point of contact for media inquiries. Proven ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive visitation and engagement.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex content into compelling public-facing messages.
- Experience supervising staff and managing projects across multiple channels and deadlines.
- Comfort working with digital tools and analytics platforms (e.g., email marketing systems, Google Analytics, social media insights, Canva).
- Strategic thinker with a creative sensibility and strong attention to detail.
- Passion for CJM’s mission and interest in engaging diverse audiences.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience. This role follows a flexible hybrid schedule. The Capital Jewish Museum offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance (Museum pays 75% of employee premium), a flexible spending account, Metro stipend, employer paid life insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match, and generous paid time off.------
