This role is part of a newly formed innovation team focused on building AI-powered systems that modernize and enhance complex review workflows. The engineer will take ownership of designing and delivering production-grade AI features that combine LLMs, retrieval systems, and data pipelines into scalable solutions. Working at the intersection of product, design, and domain experts, the role translates real user needs into intelligent, reliable software. It emphasizes hands-on engineering, rapid iteration, and strong technical ownership across the full stack of AI-enabled systems. This role is responsible for building and evolving AI-driven systems that power critical workflows and user-facing tools.
- Partner closely with product managers and subject matter experts to translate workflow needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Design and implement AI system components including retrieval pipelines, prompt workflows, and LLM orchestration.
- Build internal tools and user interfaces that enable interaction with AI-generated outputs, including review and refinement capabilities.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines for large, multi-modal datasets such as long-form documents and structured content.
- Implement evaluation frameworks including human-in-the-loop review, benchmarking, and quality validation of AI outputs.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI features while ensuring production-grade reliability and performance.
- Maintain secure, accessible, and compliant systems aligned with web standards and ethical AI practices.
- Contribute clean, well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews to ensure engineering quality.
The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering expertise with practical experience building applied AI systems.
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering or AI systems development (advanced degrees may offset experience).
- Strong experience working with LLM APIs, including RAG architectures, prompt design, and orchestration patterns.
- Solid understanding of retrieval systems, search infrastructure, or information retrieval concepts.
- Hands-on experience building scalable cloud-based systems (AWS or GCP).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production-grade software delivery.
- Strong product mindset with experience delivering user-centered features in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States.
- Salary range: $119,981 – $179,971 annually (based on experience and equity considerations)
