About the Role:
The Machinist plays a critical role in manufacturing by operating and maintaining precision machine tools to produce high-quality metal parts and components. This position requires interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to ensure that all machined parts meet exact specifications and tolerances. The Machinist will work closely with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and maintain equipment efficiency. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety are essential, as the role involves working with complex machinery and sharp tools. Ultimately, the Machinist ensures that all manufactured products meet stringent quality standards, contributing to the overall success of the production operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating CNC machines in a machine shop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in precision measuring techniques and use of measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of machine tool operation, setup, and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in machining or CNC operation from a recognized technical institution.
- Experience with tool and die making or related manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of safety protocols and best practices in a machine shop setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to fabricate precision parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Perform precision measuring and inspection of finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machine tools to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Deburr and finish machined parts to meet quality and safety standards before final assembly or shipment.
Skills:
The required skills such as CNC machine operation, precision measuring, and blueprint reading are essential for accurately producing parts that meet design specifications. Daily use of machine tools and manual lathes demands a high level of technical proficiency and attention to detail to maintain quality and efficiency. Deburring skills ensure that finished parts are safe and free of imperfections, which is critical for product reliability.
