About This Position

Program: Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT)
Position Number: P #1612
Location: Lufkin, TX (Serving 11-County Region)
Salary: $43,320 - $44,755 annually (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Weekend rotation required (approximately every 7th weekend)

Make an Immediate Impact in Youth Crisis Response

Burke is seeking a dedicated and responsive Crisis Mental Health Clinician to join our Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT). This position is ideal for a behavioral health professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about crisis intervention, youth advocacy, and collaborative community care.

The YCOT Clinician provides rapid, intensive crisis response services to youth and families at high risk of hospitalization. The primary goal is to assess, stabilize, and de-escalate crises while diverting inpatient admission whenever clinically appropriate through evidence-based interventions and coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate crisis screening, assessment, and intervention for youth and families

  • Deliver intensive, short-term stabilization services

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency departments, DFPS, and other community partners

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation

  • Participate in community outreach and educational initiatives

  • Travel regularly within Burke's 11-county service region

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant studies, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education/intervention, or another Human Services discipline meeting QMHP requirements, from an accredited college or university

  • Valid Texas driver's license with an insurable driving record

  • Ability to complete SAMA, CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and drive regularly

Preferred Qualifications
  • Six (6) months of full-time direct care experience in a behavioral health or mental health setting

  • Familiarity with DSM-IV diagnostic criteria

  • LBSW credential
