About This Position

Position Description: Overview:
Responsible for proposing, initiating and overseeing all loan programs provided by the Bank. This position is ultimately responsible for the lending goals being set and achieved. Oversees and develops implementation of loan policies, products and strategies. Directly supervises loan officers and maintains customer relationships.

Responsibilities and Results:
Supervise, direct and control loan operations, commercial and mortgage loan production activities and ensure that applicable bank lending objectives, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
Oversee the preparation of lending activity reports for bank review by the loan committee and/or the executive committee of the Board of Directors. Present loans exceeding departmental lending limits to the loan committee and/or the Boards executive committee or as needed.
Oversees loan presentation preparation, loan grading and pricing.
Reviews all loan reports.
Review commercial loans developed by subordinates and decision loans exceeding the credit authority of the loan officer managing the account.
Develop and manage large and/or major commercial loan accounts. Interview applicants, gather and evaluate financial and related data to establish creditworthiness, establish and renegotiate credit terms where necessary, and continually monitor customers financial condition and repayment progress. Take action to collect from past due accounts and review servicing of loans within loan officers portfolios.
Recommend interest rates and fee structures.
Responsible for assumptions, projections and annual budgeting for the Loan Department.
Help in the development of the Bank's strategic priorities. Works collaboratively to establish current and long-range goals, objectives, plans and policies.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Oversee the business relationship with Mackinac Credit and Compliance.
Be familiar with and comply with all federal and state banking regulations as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors degree required
Advanced degree or Graduate Banking School a plus but not required
Work Experience:
5+ years managerial experience in banking
10+ years commercial lending experience
Skills and Knowledge:
Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills and a strong desire to succeed
Ability to manage and lead employees
Time management and organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail
Self-Motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining a team player
Experienced with office machines, such as computer, phone systems, copiers, etc.
Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and other computer software
Ability to transcribe meeting minutes
Ability to effectively communicate via phone and e-mail
Uses discretion and good judgement, shows patience with others

Job includes talking, hearing and repetitive motions
Ability to express and exchange ideas with customers and employees by means of the spoken word, either in person or on the phone
Ability to received detailed information through oral communication
Visual ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer screen and reading procedures
Speed and accurate use of computer, calculator and other business machines is required
Willingness to assume new responsibilities, ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing and possibly stressful environment is expected
The ability to identify, assist with and resolve routine problems is expected
Working hours may vary
May be required to work in other branch locations as needed
On time attendance is expected
