Podiatrist in New Orleans, Louisiana at EXCELth INCORPORATED

EXCELth, Inc. is seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Podiatrist to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care within our community health center setting. The Podiatrist will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and help prevent podiatric conditions, with particular attention to patients with diabetes, chronic disease, and other conditions that place them at increased risk for foot complications.

As a member of EXCELth 's multidisciplinary care team, the Podiatrist will collaborate with primary care providers, nurses, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to support prevention, early intervention, chronic disease management, and the overall health of our patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad range of foot and ankle conditions, including diabetic foot complications, ulcers, infections, nail disorders, calluses, wounds, and other podiatric conditions.
Provide routine and preventive podiatric care, including nail debridement, callus care, wound care, and other clinically appropriate services.
Conduct diabetic and high-risk foot assessments and educate patients regarding prevention of complications and appropriate foot care.
Perform minor podiatric procedures within the scope of practice and available clinical services.
Assess patients for orthotic or other supportive interventions when clinically appropriate.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
Collaborate with primary care and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate treatment for patients with diabetes and other chronic or medically complex conditions.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding foot health, wound prevention, self-care, chronic disease management, and when to seek additional medical attention.
Document assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, patient education, and follow-up care accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
Make appropriate referrals to specialists or higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical performance initiatives.
Maintain compliance with applicable professional standards, organizational policies, infection-prevention requirements, and FQHC clinical and regulatory requirements.
Maintain required professional licensure, credentialing, privileging, and continuing education.
Participate in meetings, training, case consultation, and other clinical activities as appropriate to the position.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited school of podiatric medicine.
Current, unrestricted license to practice podiatry in Louisiana.
Eligible for credentialing and privileging with EXCELth and applicable health plans.
DEA registration, if required for assigned clinical duties.
Knowledge and experience in the evaluation and treatment of common podiatric conditions.
Ability to document and manage patient care using an electronic health record.
Preferred Qualifications
Board certified or board eligible in an applicable podiatric specialty.
Experience providing diabetic foot care, wound care, and treatment of chronic disease-related foot complications.
Previous experience in an FQHC, community health center, safety-net, or other ambulatory care environment.
Experience working with medically underserved and diverse patient populations.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
