About This Position

Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled, self-managed Building Engineer who excels working independently and takes full ownership of building operations. This role requires a proactive professional with strong HVAC expertise who can troubleshoot, prioritize, and execute repairs with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues
  • Service and repair 3-phase, 5-ton rooftop units (RTUs)
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues quickly and effectively
  • Perform plumbing repairs and general building maintenance as needed
  • Perform minor electrical work including ballast replacements, tombstone replacements, can light repairs, lighting retrofits, and general electrical troubleshooting
  • Follow all safety protocols and refrigerant handling guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of repairs, maintenance schedules, and HVAC supply inventory
  • Document completed work in the work order system
  • Communicate effectively with tenants and property management regarding service requests and updates
  • Respond promptly to maintenance calls and building needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Required Qualifications
  • Strong HVAC experience is required
  • EPA Universal Certification (required)
  • Proven experience with 3-phase, 5-ton rooftop units
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting methods, and equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting repairs and basic circuit troubleshooting
  • Solid plumbing repair experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must have your own tools
  • Physical Requirements

  • Frequent bending, carrying, moving, and climbing
  • Working from various heights
  • Lifting 50+ pounds
  • Extensive walking throughout the buildings
