Description:

Position: Campus Monitor

Reports to: School Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full-time / Part-time

We believe that it is the parents’ responsibility to train up a child in the way he/she should go. Our role is to come alongside parents and provide a biblical foundation for the academic education families seek for their children. Our purpose is to partner with parents in growing their children in Christ.

Our goal is to provide our students with a biblically based academic environment and to teach principles from God’s Word that they will apply to every aspect of their lives. The Campus Monitor plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered campus environment where students can learn and grow.

Mission Critical

The Campus Monitor serves as a visible, consistent presence on campus to ensure student safety, reinforce school standards, and model Christ-like behavior. This role supports the school’s mission by fostering an environment of respect, accountability, and care, allowing students to thrive spiritually, academically, and socially.

JOB DUTIES

Spiritual

  • Maintain a daily personal devotional life to be prepared spiritually for each day.
  • Demonstrate, by example, love and obedience to Christ and His Word.
  • Model Christ-like behavior in all interactions with students, staff, and families.
  • Encourage students in positive behavior and personal responsibility.
  • Attend staff devotions and participate as appropriate.
  • Attend and actively participate in a local evangelical church.

Supervision & Safety

  • Monitor campus areas including hallways, restrooms, playgrounds, parking lots, and common areas.
  • Provide supervision before school, during breaks/lunch, and after school as assigned.
  • Ensure students are in appropriate areas and following school policies.
  • Assist with student arrival and dismissal, including traffic and pedestrian safety.
  • Identify and proactively address unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and report concerns to administration.

Student Management

  • Reinforce school rules, expectations, and dress code in a respectful and consistent manner.
  • Redirect student behavior calmly and constructively.
  • Build positive relationships with students to support a safe and encouraging environment.
  • Assist in conflict de-escalation when appropriate and refer to administration as needed.

Communication

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with administration and staff regarding incidents or concerns.
  • Document incidents as required by school policy.
  • Interact with students, parents, and staff in a professional and Christ-centered manner.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle when addressing conflict.

Professional

  • Arrive punctually and fulfill all assigned duties and schedules.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and school events.
  • Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a servant-hearted attitude.
  • Support and uphold the mission, vision, and policies of the school.

Supplemental

  • Assist with special events, assemblies, or activities as assigned.
  • Provide support to staff and administration as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Safety

  • Actively support and maintain safety standards and procedures.
  • Understand and assist in implementing emergency procedures (fire, lockdown, earthquake, etc.).
  • Provide basic first aid as needed and complete required reports.
  • Comply with mandated reporting requirements.
Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional training in child development, education, or a related field preferred.

Experience and Expertise

  • Demonstrate Christ-like attributes in speech and actions.
  • Ability to work well with students of various ages.
  • Strong observation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, fair, and consistent in all situations.

Clearances

  • Must pass a pre-employment reference and background check.
  • Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job.

PHYSICAL:

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and actively supervise students for extended periods. Frequent movement across campus is required. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25–50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role requires active supervision in hallways, playgrounds, parking lots, and other campus environments.

SUPERVISION:

The Campus Monitor must maintain constant awareness of student activity and ensure students are supervised at all times.

EMERGENCIES:

Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including summoning assistance and providing basic first aid.

ATTENDANCE:

Must be present during assigned supervision times, which may include before and after school and special events.
