About This Position

Job Summary:

Performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation, maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed. Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and/or administer contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality. Share emergency call, as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Reports directly to the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor.

Performance Expectations

Patient Care: The exercise of judgment to assess and respond to patients needs prior to, during

And following nuclear medicine procedures.

Quality Control: The evaluation and maintenance of a quality control program to ensure

Instrumentation credibility and reliability.

Diagnostic Procedures: The utilization of appropriate technique to ensure quality diagnostic

images and/or laboratory results.

Radiopharmaceuticals: The procurement, preparation, quality control, calculation,

identification, documentation, administration, disposal, storage, and safe handling of such

radiopharmaceuticals.

Radionuclide therapy: The collaboration with an authorized user to apply and manage a

therapeutic radionuclide treatment.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate from an approved AMA school of Nuclear Medicine required.

Work Experience:

One year experience in nuclear medicine preferred, but not required.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology by ARRT or CNMT. MS License required.

Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

  • Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
