About This Position

Description:

Summary

Safely operates forklift, performs warehousing duties, and provides instruction to other team members.

Provides instruction to other team members on the order day shift production should be loaded.

Responsible for making sure day shift production is moved from plant warehouse to DC or other outside warehouses.

Check all packaging materials to make sure we have enough to complete the production schedule.

Use scan gun and production schedule to stag materials in proper order at staging locations.

Unload, load and return materials to proper locations with scan gun. Document received and returns materials to/from outside warehouse and turn acute counts into warehouse clerk and supervisor.

Give specific instructions with regard to the unloading of packaging materials and to the specific warehouse location where these materials should be stored.

Makes decisions regarding late material deliveries, whether to unload and incur additional overtime or to turn the load away.

Drive a company vehicle to outside warehouse to pull packing materials to support production as needed.

Have the ability to receive email and follow instruction through email.

Must make sure routing sheets are accurately completed by the end of the shift each day.

Maintains an accurate and sufficient inventory of spices to support plant production. Unloads ingredients at any facilities and outside warehouse

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Operates forklift to safely load and unload containers at the production warehouse. Must always operate forklift at a reasonable and prudent speed, watching closely for pedestrians or other motorized vehicles.

Counts and reports to Supervisor the finished goods packed on the previous shifts. Receives instructions from Supervisor with regard to designated warehouse where goods should be shipped. Stages finished goods for loading. Operates forklift to load finished goods onto truck.

Help Raw Materials/ Ingredient coordinator unloading ingredient truck and maintaining the spice area.

Uses a Scan Gun to receive and count packaging materials and Ingredients

When design or ingredient changes are made to any materials it is the responsibility of the Crew leader to use old materials prior to moving to new inventory or to discard the old materials before moving to new materials.

Cleans work area and warehouse 72 & 89 an all outside warehouse

Count ingredients once per day every week for ordering purposes and turn that count into our Buyer.

Check ingredients every day to make sure that they are being FIFO rotation boxes are being taped and put back in the correct location

Cleans ingredients area and does daily ingredient area check sheet

Must help fill in any position when warehouse group has call outs.

Must work with the Raw Materials/ Ingredient coordinator to insure cycle counts are done daily and help fill in when warehouse supervisor is out.

Completes pre-operational checklist each day before operating lift. Reports all forklift damage or malfunctions to supervisor.

Maintains and reports accurately data for all merchandise movement.

Restack damaged pallets of finish goods.

Must use scan gun to scan packaging materials, spices and finished good in or out of inventory.

Clean floors in production warehouse, trailers, around loading docks, and exterior areas of the warehouse. .

Follows safety rules and company policies.

Must have a valid NC driver’s license and good driving record.

Other Duties

Delivers incoming merchandise received by the warehouse to proper department.

Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.

Receives written or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High school plus additional training preferred. Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Ability to speak, read and write in English needed for job tasks. Certified forklift operator.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides instruction to other team members.

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used

Forklift, Stretch Wrap Machine, Calculator, own or company vehicle, scanning device and air hose.

Physical Demands

Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary motion.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.

The worker is required to have eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift.

Work Environment

Works inside warehouse, subject to significant seasonal temperature variations and forklift fumes. Some contact with dust, oil, ink, and grease. Steel-toed shoes required.
