Seasonal Maintenance Worker at Tiffin, City of (IA) – Tiffin, Iowa

Brief Description of Duties:

Under supervision of Parks and Recreation Director. Openings for seasonal parks maintenance workers. Performs work in ball field maintenance and preparation, assisting with set-up and tear-down of special events, general parks maintenance, mowing and trimming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare ball diamonds for practices/games

• Removes trash and cleans maintenance areas, concessions, and rest rooms

• General parks maintenance including mowing and trimming

• Some weekend work required for tournaments

• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;

• Attends work regularly at the designated place and time

Must possess a valid State of Iowa Driver’s License.

• Prior maintenance/athletic field experience is encouraged.

• Ability to operate basic equipment like mowers, ball diamond drags and groomers, trimmers, chalkers, line painters, and other equipment.

• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to physically check grounds, equipment, and report any malfunctions or damage.

• Ability to perform general maintenance as needed

• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, officials, and the public.

• Ability to stoop, climb, (including ladders), bend, and reach to sweep, dust, wax, scrub, and wash windows, walls, floors, furniture, and other fixtures in and around buildings.

• Ability to operate motor vehicles and other maintenance equipment.

• Ability to read, speak, hear, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers and others.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of supplies and equipment.

• Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace or citizens encountered during work.

• Intellectual ability, judgement, stamina, and coordination necessary to normally complete daily assigned tasks within the workday.
