About This Position
Job Summary:
As a Carpenter Foreman 1, you’ll take the lead in managing a specialty trim crew, driving quality work, and keeping projects on track. This hands-on role combines leadership and craftsmanship — guiding team members, coordinating tasks, and ensuring safety and precision on every job site. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor self-perform crew members, setting production goals and resolving conflicts.
- Plan and schedule daily activities, ensuring efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment.
- Manage, productivity requirements, and material or consumables procurement.
- Track schedules with 3-week look-aheads and participate in weekly foreman meetings.
- Enforce safety protocols, lead toolbox talks, and complete hazard analyses.
- Monitor and ensure quality control for all self-perform work.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate records, including time entry and as-built updates.
- Support other crews and complete additional tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience working in carpentry or related experience required; other relevant experience may be considered.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of OSHA and Hutton safety protocols (OSHA 10 certified; fall protection competent).
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with teams and trade partners.
- Understanding of general construction build sequence.• Skilled in blueprint and shop drawing interpretation, layout accuracy, and trim carpentry techniques.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, including levels, lasers, drills, and sanders, etc.
- Certified to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts.
- Reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Detail-oriented with experience in repetitive tasks and training others.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Prior experience working in commercial construction environments with children present.
- Ability to track budgets.
- Ability to perform Takeoff
- Familiarity with Bluebeam/ digital blueprints.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Bilingual – Spanish/English
Work Environment:
- You will work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Work may require night shift/travel.
- Jobsite could be noisy and/or dusty.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift, push or pull materials weighing up to 80 lbs. (25 lbs. consistently).
- Walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and squat in cramped or awkward positions on a frequent basis.
- Climb to unlimited heights on ladders or scaffolds.
- Operate machinery that vibrates (drills, sanders, jackhammers, etc.) on a repetitive basis.
- Perform tasks that require gross and fine hand motions and coordination.
- Perform tasks that require clear and sharp vision.
