Senior UX/UI Designer

At Viome, we are driven by a singular mission: to help people live a healthy, disease-free life. This mission guides our actions, fuels our passion, and shapes the impact we aim to have in the world. Our core values - Be Bold, Be Collaborative, Be Frugal, and Grow Continuously - underpin our approach to achieving this goal. If you are motivated by the idea of working in an environment that prioritizes bold innovation, teamwork, efficient resource use, and continuous learning, all towards promoting health and preventing disease, we warmly invite you to apply. Join us in our journey to transform lives and create a healthier future for all.

We are looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to own design direction and Figma screen development for Viome's consumer and clinical digital applications. This person will work directly with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional team leads to translate complex health science into experiences that are clear, trustworthy, and motivating for consumers, partners, clinicians, and patients.

Responsibilities
Consumer Product Design
  • Own end-to-end UX/UI design for the Viome consumer mobile app (iOS and Android) and web experience, from discovery and onboarding through result delivery and ongoing engagement.

  • Design data visualization and result-reveal experiences for gut health scores, disease risk, microbiome insights, and personalized recommendations — making complex results visually understandable for everyday users.

  • Lead design sprints, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes across the consumer product lifecycle.

  • Maintain and evolve Viome's consumer design system: components, tokens, typography, color, and iconography across platforms.

Clinical & B2B Product Design
  • Design the Viome Provider Portal — a clinical web application used by physicians, practice managers, and care coordinators to manage patient testing and reports.

  • Create provider-facing report layouts and data views that communicate diagnostic insights with clinical precision and visual clarity.

  • Design information architectures and navigation models that work for multi-role clinical organizations — from enterprise health systems to solo practitioners and concierge practices.

  • Build and maintain a clinical design system that shares foundation with the consumer system but meets the distinct needs of professional, data-dense healthcare interfaces.

Research & Validation
  • Plan and conduct usability testing, generative research, and structured feedback sessions with both consumer users and clinical customers.

  • Synthesize research findings into design decisions and communicate tradeoffs clearly to product and engineering stakeholders.

  • Partner with product managers on discovery — contributing to problem definition and opportunity sizing, not just solution execution.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure designs are implemented with fidelity; participate in design QA and flag regressions.

  • Collaborate with marketing, customer success, clinical and other teams to ensure the voice of customer and brand needs are being addressed in the design

  • Contribute to product strategy discussions by bringing a design and user perspective to roadmap prioritization.

Qualifications
Required
  • Expertise in Figma, including component-based design systems, auto-layout, prototyping, and developer handoff.

  • 5–7+ years of UX/UI design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates work across both consumer mobile/web apps and B2B or B2B2C products.

  • Demonstrated experience designing health, wellness, or digital health products — you understand the unique trust, clarity, and safety requirements of products that communicate health information.

  • Strong visual design craft — typography, layout, color, and data visualization — paired with rigorous UX thinking around flows, hierarchy, and interaction patterns.

  • Experience designing for both iOS and Android mobile platforms and responsive web, with knowledge of platform conventions and constraints.

  • Experience conducting and synthesizing user research — usability testing, interviews, and contextual inquiry — and translating findings into design decisions.

  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to non-designers: product managers, engineers, and executives.

  • Comfort working in fast-moving startup environments where scope shifts and you must balance craft with delivery velocity.

Strongly Preferred
  • Exposure to AI-generated content in product UI — you have designed surfaces that surface model outputs, recommendations, or scores to end users and thought carefully about trust and explainability.

  • Background in data visualization for wearable integrations, health metrics, biomarker results, disease risk scores, or lab diagnostics.

  • Familiarity with gut health, microbiome, genomics, or precision medicine product categories.

  • Experience with concierge medicine, direct primary care, or high-touch clinical models.

  • Prior work at a digital health or life sciences startup.
