About This Position

JOB SUMMARY
-
Responsible for abstracting and assigning valid CPT, ICD10 CM/PCS, and HCPCS codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement in accordance with federal, state, and private health plans as well as organization and regulatory guidance. This role is responsible for less complex or entry level coding with oversight.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

Education/Regulatory Requirements:
-
Entry level position
-
New Graduates required to obtain certification or credential within 6 months
-
Hospital Coder:
-
Associate Degree in Health Information Technology and
-
RHIT or RHIA certification (or eligible)
-
-
Physician Coder:
-
RHIT certification (or eligible) OR
-
AAPC coding credential: CPC, CIC, etc.
-
AHIMA coding credential: CCA, CCS, CCS-P
-
-
Hospital or physician clinic coding experience a plus.

Skills:
-
Ability to use computer systems for entering and retrieving information. Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.

Position requires close attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and the ability to meet deadlines and work with frequent interruptions. Continuous attention to detail required. Must demonstrate flexibility
