Function of Position:

Help provide front-of-office coverage when Clerk out, on lunch, or busy assisting other students. Serve as a peer assistant to help onboard new MCC international and immigrant students who may be unfamiliar with navigating MCC's campus and technology. Assist with events like International Student Orientation and other events as needed which are co-sponsored by GEIS and/or Global Union student organization.

This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

FWS students are needed to assist students with the following:

• Scheduling appointments through Starfish with GEIS advisors
• Scheduling Testing, Admissions and Financial Aid appointments using Registerblast.com
• Ordering books
• Registering for advisor-recommended classes using myMCC
• Setting up myMCC Network account; navigating myMCC and Brightspace
• Walking students to other offices for assistance

FWS students are also needed to assist GEIS office staff with the following:

• Welcoming visitors, answering the phone line
• COIL certificates; map updates
• Event planning/coverage
• International Student Orientation each semester

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)
• Completed at least 1 semester at MCC and in good academic standing (GPA above 2.0)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous customer service experience
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
