Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for computer operations within the RWJBH data centers.

Responsible for the day-to-day assignments of staff and the follow-up of their work performance.

Manages the daily activities to resolve problems and change management issues.

Maintains shift schedules, prepares metrics to evaluate system performance, and works with IT groups and users to ensure that service objectives are met.

  • Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Provide availability for after-hours support.
  • Submit operations team timesheets on a biweekly basis.
  • Coordinate operational, administrative, and project activities for operations.
  • Perform routine checkpoints for operations data quality.
  • Ensure the effective use of data center tools.
  • Responsible for facilities management.
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance is done on a scheduled basis, and that any issues are reported, managed, and remediated.
  • Responsible for maintaining the BMS systems located at several sites.
  • Ensure regular preventive maintenance is performed.
  • Quarterly review of data center access.
  • Complete change control requests and related documentation for data center maintenance, generator tests etc.
  • Responsible for offsite tape storage.
  • Work with operations team to review and refine operational/administrative procedures, as necessary.
  • Responsible for interviewing and recommending potential hires.
  • Ensure Morning Reports are distributed daily and follow up with staff and customers, when applicable.
  • Review System Downtime Schedules/Reports monthly, work with service support teams as applicable, and publish findings monthly.
  • Review applicable documentation for area of administration to create, maintain and post in the Operations Team Share.
  • Ensure applicable Service Levels are met or exceeded for our clients.
  • On behalf of Operations, ensure that the change control process and production acceptance criteria are being followed by all team members.
  • Obtain budget quotes as needed and provide to Director.
  • Process and follow up on FARs for all data center related items.
  • Maintain and update inventory documentation for data center-related items.
  • Seek out ways to improve the quality of operations services and make recommendations to management.
