About This Position
Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967, and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969 to fight discrimination against the Mexican American community. Inspired by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, we advocated for equity in education, politics, and labor conditions. CPLC is committed to empowering individuals through health & human services, housing, education, and economic development. Today, CPLC provides services to people of all backgrounds while honoring our Mexican-American roots.
This position will be 100% remote and open to candidates in AZ, CA, NM, NV, TX or CO.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
YOU will get to:
- Be responsible for aligning business objectives within the HR Department. The position formulates partnerships across the organization ensuring HR delivers value-added service.
- Maintain an effective level of business literacy about Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates and subsidiaries and programs to drive HR projects, processes and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and is instrumental in instituting best-practices. Utilizes metrics and optimization strategies to improve departmental function and efficiencies. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Provide oversight of HR functional areas and Employee Programs, which include Benefits/Wellness, Training, Employee Engagement and Diversity Equity and Inclusion efforts.
- Supervise Director level and have direct and indirect supervisory responsibilities within the Human Resources department.
- Work collaboratively with several team members, programs, business units and employees across CPLC and serve under the direction of the VP of HR.

- You possess extensive experience with non-profit operations, grants, contracts, policies and regulations.

- You are someone who is detail oriented and can communicate effectively along with strong interpersonal skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education /Background:
- The ideal candidate will minimally hold a Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Humanities or a related area and have minimally three (3) years’ experience resolving complex issues including three (3) years directly relevant HR experience or working within a position where HR duties were a primary function of your job.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may meet the qualifications for this position.
- Preferred candidate will hold a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment. PHR or relevant certification, preferred.
- Candidate must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
- Candidate will have a thorough understanding of Federal and State Employment Law required for Arizona with the ability to learn, navigate and apply laws quickly for Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, California and other areas upon growth.
- Additionally, candidate will have working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, diversity, and performance management. PC proficiency with various software including Office 365, and HRIS software. Proficiency with ADP preferred.
- Experience with leadership and project management is essential to successfully complete the primary functions of this role. Sound judgment, a commitment to compliance and confidentiality, superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail are essential functions of this position.
