What You’ll Do
As a Progressive Mobility Specialist, you will use specialized training to safely assist patients with movement, transfers, and mobility in the acute hospital setting. You’ll educate and support staff in proper mobility techniques, use of assistive devices, and safe body mechanics while promoting optimal recovery and patient safety.

Progressive Mobility Specialist Job Responsibilities

  • Patient Mobility & Transfers: Perform tasks to optimize patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and use of gait belts, lifts, and other assistive devices.

  • Clinical Guidance: Demonstrate, teach, and coach staff on safe mobility techniques and proper equipment usage; enlist nursing staff assistance as needed.

  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with nursing, rehabilitation, and other healthcare staff to coordinate safe and efficient patient mobility.

  • Documentation & Quality Measures: Accurately document and/or collect data related to mobility activities and patient progress.

  • Patient Care Support: Assist patients with basic needs when possible, including bathroom assistance, incontinence care, and meal setup.

  • Equipment & Supplies: Maintain a clean, organized workspace; manage inventory of mobility supplies and equipment; ensure all devices are used safely and properly.

  • Organizational Support: Participate in department meetings, maintain certifications, and adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

You’ll be detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to creating a safe and healing environment for patients and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a patient care setting required; prior inpatient facility experience with direct patient care preferred.

  • Certification: Current CPR certification required.

  • Skills: Ability to interact courteously with patients, families, and staff; proficiency in basic office and computer skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
