Registered Nurse - Outpatient
Position Overview:Akicita Federal is seeking skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide high-quality outpatient and ambulatory care nursing services at the Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) located in Polacca, Arizona. This role supports ongoing outpatient clinic operations by ensuring continuity of care and minimizing disruptions due to staffing shortages. The RN will deliver patient-centered care in accordance with Indian Health Service (IHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Key Responsibilities:-Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes for ambulatory care patients.-Administer medications, oxygen therapy, and treatments as ordered by providers.-Perform IV starts, manage IV infusions, and access PICC lines and ports as required.-Administer adult and pediatric immunizations in accordance with CDC and IHS guidelines.-Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (blood, urine, stool, etc.) for diagnostic testing.-Monitor and document vital signs, neurological status, medication effects, and patient progress in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).-Operate and maintain medical equipment, including EKG machines, oxygen delivery systems, and suction/feeding tubes.-Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and adverse reactions to medications or treatments.-Collaborate with physicians, ancillary staff, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.-Participate in quality control checks, staff meetings, and mandatory training sessions.-Provide culturally sensitive care, ensuring respect for Hopi and Navajo traditions, language, and community values.-Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control practices.
Required Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse, including 1 year in Ambulatory Care and 1 year in IV therapy/infusions.Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma).Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.Certifications:-Basic Life Support (BLS) Required-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required
Schedule and Work Conditions:Typical Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PMPossible Adjustments: 10-hour shifts based on patient volume and operational needsCoverage: May include additional days or after-hours as required by HHCCLunch Break: 30-minute unpaid lunch break per shift
